"Cooler but sunny day. We were the only ones on the trail the entire hike. It is a gravel road with some washout the higher you go. Very steep climb especially in the 1st couple of miles." — tomlinpedque • Feb 3, 2022

"Today seemed like a good day to climb San Diego County’s highest mountain. Nice day and a great hike in the Los Coyotes Reservation. Also, walking through an unburned incense cedar forest in Southern California was worth the price of admission in itself!" — MikeTeeples • Apr 10, 2021

"Two more peaks done from the San Diego 100 Peaks Challenge (Derek's List) and Peaks 4 and5 of the Inaugural San Diego Six Pack of Peaks Challenge. Today was a long day, 23.99 miles and 6,189 feet in total elevation gain. I was joined by my friend Lisa for climb number 1, Hot Springs Mountain, from the Los Coyote Indian Reservation; and, by Sierra for climb number 2, Palomar Mountain High Point from Oak Grove." — Philip-Yoho • Jan 2, 2021

"Absolutely wonderful New Year's Day hike. We were on crunchy snow (1/2 inch to 12 inches deep) the ENTIRE hike. Nike boot track all the way up, not too icy. Made it all the way up and down without extra traction devices. The trailhead is surprisingly easy to get to. I can't believe that more people aren't taking advantage of this! $10 a person to gain entry to the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation...and worth every penny. The Cedar forest on the top half of the trail is worth the trip, and finding un-burned forest like this in San Diego County is getting more and more rare!" — benjineer • Jan 1, 2021

"Day 2 of my quest to complete the six new San Diego Peaks in the 2020 SoCal Six Pack of Peaks Challenge. I started off with Volcan Mountain then headed over to the Coyote Indian Reservation to complete Hot Springs Mountain. Peak 3 & 4 of the Six Pack of Peaks Challenge." — Philip-Yoho • Jan 2, 2020

"Another alternate peak from San Diego added to the 2020 SoCal Six Pack of Peaks challenge, so of course I had to go check it out in advance. Nice little hike located on an Indian Reservation, so there is a $10 entrance fee per person (not per car). I ended up with a 10.4 mile hike and 2553 feet in elevation gain. Not bad!" — Philip-Yoho • Dec 6, 2019

"Took me a while till I found the Right Turn to go up to the Fire road, Missed the Sign on the Bottom and went up Miles and Miles the Road and hiked to Corral Benchmark. Good Exercise i would call it. Amazing View but Sad to see the State of the Fire Tower, in Ruins and not Safe to climb. It is also the Highpoint of San Diego County which caught my attention as I try to climb every County Highpoint in California. " — Nuernberger • Jul 10, 2015
