"After a long break from hiking, I decided on Horn Peak as my first hike. I figured it would be a good introduction to the Sangres, and a good test to see where my fitness level was at. The trail was consistently steep the entire way and I moved very slowly, but eventually got there. The views from the summit are really great." — WaxDr • Jul 5, 2023

"The Forest Service wants the trail .75 mailes past the Dry Creek junction is used. As the trail gets close to tree line it gets very thin. There are some 4x4 posts right at tree line marking the way. Coming down be sure to find and stay on the trail to avoid a long bushwhack out." — grandslamcubed • Sep 17, 2016

"I climbed this peak when I was 8 and it was a great hike. There was plenty of wildlife on the mountain, especially marmots, and the view was beautiful from the top. I hope to hike it again this year!" — hudsonkraus • Jul 31, 2011

"This was my first hike of many hikes up Horn Peak. I spent a total of 12 months over the course of 2011-2013 working on recreation staff at Horn Creek Camp near the base of Horn Peak, and led guests on hikes up the mountain almost every week, sometimes twice a week, during the summers." — Globetrotter87 • May 26, 2011
