"As far as I can determine, Hickman Hill is the 13th highest named highpoint in Indiana, as well as the highest named point in Floyd County. My son, Marshall, and I were able to drive up the access road from Route 11, but the summit was protected with a high chain-linked fence topped by several strands of barbed wire and a locked gate. After a minute or two of a frightening balancing act on the barbed wire at the apex of the gate, I managed to make it safely to the ground within the fenced area. The huge cylindrical water tower appears to be resting directly on the highest point, so the only way to claim this highpoint was to walk around the tower, which we did, took our summit photo and quickly got back over to the fence again with me having as much trouble as I did the first time. Since we did not feel comfortable getting caught inside the locked fence by some authorities..." — Stewy • Nov 8, 2014
