Had intended to go up nearby Polly Butte to start the day, but was repelled by private property signage. Rather than risk a potential crime, I pivoted to the next peak on the daily list, Hemet Butte. To reach the Hemet Butte starting point, I returned along Gibbel Road to a point about a mile east of State Street. I parked in a pullout and walked about 40 yards west to reach the dirt road where the hike begins. The dirt road winds through the sub-desert landscape toward the peak. Eventually the road bends away from the peak. At an opportune point, I picked up a use trail to go the rest of the way to the top. Good views from the summit, Including Polly Butte taunting me nearby.
