"I hiked with the Mountaineers up to Helena Peak. It's an interesting rock scramble on the last part, above 4800 ft. The trail is unmaintained, overgrown and rough. It's a bit of a long way to hike to get to an OK scramble. The views from the top are great, except that there is a lot of summer haze and wildfire smoke now. The scramble requires a few moves where you are hanging onto easy hand-holds and footholds on vertical rock, just for about 20 feet. There were a few other spots with a little exposure. It was a very hot day and we all ran out of water. The highest water source was a stream crossing the trail at 4000 ft, about 100 ft into the woods, just SW (down-trail) from a wide, open talus field.
