"Short hike to the top. The trail between the PCT and the paved road to the top was overgrown, like walking up a very narrow hallway. I came across 3 PCT thru-hikers as I was coming down!" — Mojavewanderer • Mar 16, 2022
"Perfect clear day. A bit windy. Very few people, had the trails mainly to myself. Crossed over from Monument Peak. Trail down from summit (north side) o PCT is difficult to follow, but no bushwhacking. " — Mtstalker • Mar 16, 2019
"I took the Big Laguna Trail east to the PCT and turned left. I looked for the use trail that leads to Monument Peak, but I missed it. Once at the base of Hays Peak (which I thought was Monument Peak at the time). I climbed up its spine hoping to see where Hays was from the top. To my surprise, looming on the south side was another peak. That's when I realized that I was on the northern peak, which was actually Hays Peak. The peak has tremendous views of the Anza-Borrego Desert far below. Shortly after topping out, I continued on to Monument Peak. Totals for both peaks is 3.8 miles with 550 feet of elevation gain." — MikeTeeples • Sep 11, 2017
