  • Gunung Rinjani (also known as Mount Rinjani) is an active volcano in Indonesia on the island of Lombok.
  • It is the second highest volcano in Indonesia, and similar in height to Mount Fuji, the third highest mountain of the Indonesian archipelago.
  • The volcano and the caldera are protected by Gunung Rinjani National Park established in 1997.
  • Climbers usually visit the rim, make their way into the caldera, and climb to the highest point.
"Beautiful mountain unfortunately ruined by tons of trash left everywhere by trekkers and porters. National park should really do something about this. Trek is very pleasant, not too hard except for the last 300-400 meters to the summit through loose sand. They are literally painful." - ahmadnakib, Jun 20, 2016
"I think Rinjani is the most beautiful mountain in Indonesia (may be in the world). Don't forget to spent one or two nights camping at the Segara Anakan camping area. You can see the Gunung Barujari (the young mountain) better from here. You also can enjoying fishing in the lake, enjoying soak in the hot spring and the waterfall. How amazing, all these natural beautys in one location. " - sigitaji, Jul 8, 2012
