"Starting this peak at 5pm was not the best idea Ive had . You’ll need at least 5 hours on this one I’d think . Approach coming in is long but surprisingly well, 16 miles of pavement on chetco river rd will get you to the chetco river inn and the start of the 14 miles of gravel, which is where I recorded . Gravel is a little crappy until you cross a bridge then it gets better . You can camp pretty much anywhere you’d like on the gravel , I stayed right at the trailhead after I was done. The stats for the hike are about 9.5 miles and 3500 ft of gain. It’s pretty much a bushwhack the entire way up and down 3 different hills/ mountains. It was a quite v unpleasant peak . The manzanita is overtaking this one, I’d say you have a year left before it becomes extremely unmanageable . All this for the 63rd most prominent peak in Oregon" — joshortman • Jul 23, 2024
