"5 hours and 10 minutes
Overnight with 40 lb pack and brittney. No camp stove.
From parking lot left at 7:30 with lots of breathers on the way up. Hardest hike yet.
Got to emergency shelter at 12:40.
Only 3 tent pads left when arrived at top and soon filled up after. Cold at the top. Rained on our way up but cleared. Can be some nasty winds. A guy last night had his tent ripped apart to pieces and lost his fly. So emergency shelter it was. And there’s a bathroom on the emergency shelter. Running waterfall right here is beautiful. Pats cord to tie down tent to tent pad.

" Started late in the evening, and made it to the safety cabin in 3h45m arriving at 10pm. spent the night at the cabin and started up the glacier by 5:45am. Hit the summit by 6:30, and descended by the ridge, and avoided the glacier all together. The trail has been recently re-marked and the trail up to alder flats is being redone. Make sure you have your ice axe if you venture onto the glacier!
Cant wait to do a winter accent later this year." — TimTatertotNielsen • Jul 29, 2014

"Overnight trip with Jesse South. Camped just above the *old* emergency shelter (in the trees) then summited in the morning. Thunderstorm started while on summit - hasty retreat. Very cloudy, no views." — Cirrus2000 • Jun 15, 1998

"Andrew T and I attempted the Ears in July of 82. We had left to late and realized we needed an earlier start. The Golden Ears is a long big elevation climb. It is also very steep. We realized we did not have enough time so we turned around and planned to go another day.
In August of 83 Blake and I got off to an early start of 0700 am. This gave us a good shot at the peak. The first 3 to 4 km ‘S follow Gold creek. After that it is 5200 ft up to the summit. Once above the Alder Flats we travelled up a rough trail located in a cirque.. the cirque held the snow well into August. The trail was steep and crampons and an axe were useful. This helped us gain the ridge that took us to the summit. The descent took forever. I was in top shape but I found this trip to be exhausting, I promised my self never todo this trail again. "A real long day. HIKE STARTS NEAR SEA LEVEL and climbs to 5600 feet It is a full day. The glacier in August was solid ice. We took the glacie on NE slope leading to the summit ridge. A small berg shund had opened at the rock face which we had to worka way around it. The view from the top is great but this trip is a long day. This was my second attempt which was a success.
