"Started up Grouse Grind, not really knowing what it was. It's a steep hike, almost 2 miles and 2800' elevation gain. It's worth a one time shot, as it's very crowded. Continued on to Alpine Trail to Goat Mountain Trail, which is beautiful, and peaceful. Most tourists stop at the top of Grouse Grind, so it was great to get away from the crowd. We went on an overcast day, so didn't get to enjoy the view, but I'm sure it's gorgeous. The trail to Goat Mtn Peak requires some class 4 scrambling. There are chains and ropes setup along the route. Chains are solid, however, I wouldn't take a fall on the ropes. Def not for your average hiker. Also, we went June 9 (2019) and there is still a lot of snow. Def bring GPS, as it really helped! We had water proof hiking shoes and gators, which really came in handy. Saw a lot of people turning around, as they only wore sneakers. Also, on the way back, we stopped for some hot chocolate at the cafe, top of Grouse Mountain and took the tram down. Nice way to end the hike!" — colleenmarie512 • Jun 8, 2019
