"Hiked with Dean today. We left the Upper Giant parking area at 9:25 am @ 8° and under cold blue skies. Micro spikes door to door. Trail was frozen hard packed with 1" of fresh powder. Views from the Nubble were gorgeous! Took pics and enjoyed the summit, then returned to the car at 12:05. A short morning hike with big rewards!" — garyogden • Feb 5, 2025

"Amazing day but very warm up to Giants Nubble, Keen Valley N.Y. then onto Crane Mountain for peak credit of the 29er challenge, Beautiful time out with my Best friend Lisa and fellow hiker doing what we love, Both these Mountains offer excellent views" — ramjet1963 • Aug 6, 2023
"Before heading home from the holiday weekend I picked off a couple of small peaks. Both had fantastic views but the Lookout was the better of the two. Of course it helped to have the trail and summit to myself. The trail to Owls Head Lookout was also more pleasant." — Nimblefoot • May 29, 2023

"Solo today with Black dog. We left the Giant trailhead at 9 am with blue skies, a light wind @ 4 degrees. Trail was hard packed powder. Wore trail crampons up and down. Made stops at the many photo spots. Summited at 10 am. Summit views were beautiful with the cold blue skies. Returned to car at 11:10. A little hike with big views." — garyogden • Mar 4, 2022

"Becca and I parked at the trailhead at 0430 to get a good spot. It wasn't the parking lot, or even the trailhead, that we thought, but it still had access to the peaks we wanted. Somewhere along the way I dropped one of my two rubber footspike things, so I went about a half mile back to find it hanging on a tree (placed by a friendly passerby). Becca posed for some test footage for an upcoming video project, and battled her leaking water bottle all day. This hike has had some of my favorite views of the Adirondacks, especially on the descent between Giant and Giant Nubble." — mikebenjamin • Sep 20, 2020

"A nice little side hike after summiting Giant Mountain which is actually a 29er and can be accessed from the same trail,, easy hike with some amazing views,,, Another amazing day on the trail" — ramjet1963 • Aug 11, 2018

"Sunshine! Mud! Trailrunners! Spiderwebs across the face! Ice! Flying insects! Spring has sprung in the ADK!
Started out at the Roaring Brook Trailhead at 0900, solo. Headed in & looked at the Falls, then continued to Giant’s Washbowl. The trail was nice and mostly undulating, there was a lot of debris and blowdown from the recent storm. The washbowl itself wasn’t awe inspiring to me, it’s still mostly brown in the area. I didn’t even take a picture of it. Hit the summit at 1100, hung out and admired the beautiful views for about 30 minutes. No cell service up there, oddly enough. Big blue skies and very few clouds. Just a gorgeous day to hike. Headed down opposite of the way I came up to loop the hike, this trail was strewn with ankle roller rocks. Ran into only one person on my way out and close to my car a little after noon. Overall, a very nice hike. 24/29 for the 29er list complete!" — kellieirene • May 9, 2018

"Enjoyed a nice hike up to the Nubble on a perfect Fall Day. We checked out a few viewpoints on the way and then made our way back down to the Washbowl where we bushwhacked back up the front Nubble cliff wall to find the geocache on the summit. Added quite a bit of topo but the extra view was great and the woods were very open so the whack was easy. Awesome views today. " — deb-and-rob • Oct 10, 2014

"Frank and I went to the Washbowl on a steep, wet, rocky Ridge Trail, then took sidetrail to Giant's Nubble. Nice views in all directions except back to Washbowl. Fall colors in Keene Valley especially nice. Went down Roaring Brook Trail, enjoying the falls as always." — barbaratraver • Oct 4, 1997

"I just remember all the false summits on the way up thinking this has got to be the one. Once on top, the 360 views were
amazing. I descended via the Ridge Trail & took the spur trail to the Nubble & then back to the parking area @ Chapel Pond." — billsussdorff • Aug 13, 1984
