"Up to Garfield in 27 minutes . Down to dyer through the meadow , dyer has a very nice summit block that is about 40-50ft of nice class 3 scrambling . Going to applegate is easy, dyar rock is definitely the highlight of this peak link up " — joshortman • Jul 15, 2023
"Here is some footage of my daughter and I on our two-night visit to Crater Lake National Park in Oregon, USA. Our base camp for this adventure was Mazama campground which is operated by a national park concessionaire. It's a well-run camp and all the details are listed in their website.
The highlights of the trip included summitting 8,648' Mt. Scott, 8,051 Garfield Peak and all the scenery in between. The campground is in the NP but located several miles south and about 1,000 below the lake rim.

"six bagger day around Crater Lake NP just shy of 20 miles total. Started at Mount Scott, worked my way over to the Rim Lodge and bagged Garfield and Applegate with the straightforward meadow traverse. Had some lunch in the picnic area and then struggled to find parking at the very busy Watchman overlook. Followed the crowds up to The Watchman summit and then had Hillman Peak all to myself on a Class 4 scramble up exposed rock facing the lake. Then crossed the highway and took Mount Bailey to the top to finish my day. Started at 6:48 am and finished 6:57 pm. " — oregon-mt-goat • Jul 27, 2019
"Early afternoon walk, didn't carry but fluids. Not cold, not hot. Fairly easy climb, lots of other climbers, even quite a few seniors. We took our 8 and 6 year-olds up: no complaints. Lots of loose rock on the trail and off the cliff. A couple points with really high cliffs off the edge of trail that would plummet anyone to eternity. Breathtaking views of Crater Lake and the Cascades." — RobertoJGalindo • Sep 7, 2015
