"Explored an east face route to the peak today. Cool knife-edges instead of the scree slope I saw someone else post on a website about. They were a little scarier in the high winds but made them work. Since the route was a return via the dirt road I threw in my first summits of NE Frenchman Peak and NW Frenchman Peak so that I can say I've done all the different peaks on the mountain. "First time ascending Linden Canyon with H&SLV. The canyon is labeled class 4 by some but I would give it a strong 3 rating. It is steep and exposed but the hand & foot holds are plentiful which is the defining factor for me. We descended Stewart Canyon, also a first for me. Overall a very pleasant route with lots of good rock, & of course the views!
Thanks to Kelly & Liza of H&SLV for the photos!" — DudeAlmighty • Jan 9, 2026
"4th annual full moon / sunrise hike with the 52 Peak Club. Unfortunately both were no-shows due to the clouds. Still, always a fun group hike with the lights of the Las Vegas Valley and the dawn over Henderson & Lake Mead." — DudeAlmighty • Jan 3, 2026
"Lovely night hike up the Frenchman mountain. Ambient temperature as I started around 11p was 106°! A random storm cell appeared over Nevada and there was lots of lightning over the Air Force base. Luckily the storms were moving east and I was treated to a light show with a little extra humidity. Lovely views and interesting rock. " — MikeERodriguez • Jul 24, 2024
"11.4.23~3.75 miles, 2,200’ gain in 3:07hr. Out & Back a West Facing Ridge from the Temple/Bonanza. It was very warm with an 11:30am start & wearing thick sweaty leggings. There was a wedding at the Temple and a lot of dead roosters in bags at the top of Bonanza Rd.

"12.22.22~Frenchman Mtn w/Laszlo. He showed me the west facing ridge ascent. It’s a great route. I wanted to descend the Mtn road and get some jogging in so we split up after a summit snack and said our goodbyes. I jogged down from the summit to the road in :34 min. I’m not use to getting out as much so my quads felt heavy after the steep scamper down so the 4 mile loop run, down Lake mead & Hollywood Blvd back to my car at the Temple, was difficult. Laszlo was driving out as I was finishing up. He said the gully descent was steep and I was glad to have missed it. " — paula.raimondi • Dec 22, 2022
"Up the wash & down the ridge. Favorite route. Start: 5:37am. Beautiful as always, light breezes, 47 degrees at start, 64 at finish 10:07am. Took my brother visiting from Taiwan." — DudeAlmighty • Mar 2, 2022
"1.28.2022~Frenchman Mtn EZ Workout Jog. 4.5 miles, 2,200’ gain, 1:19hrs Round Trip. Up in :50min up, down in :29 min. It was really cold and windy. Wearing shorts wasn’t smart. At least I thought to grab a windbreaker before heading up. " — paula.raimondi • Jan 28, 2022
"Solo excursion to Frenchman to celebrate my 100th peak of all time. Noticed the peak to the south of Frenchman (Peak 3434) had 0 climbs logged in Peakery so decided to grab the 1st ascent and named it "Hundredth Peak" in recognition of my achievement. The peak itself is nothing extraordinary but the ridge scramble from Frenchman will definitely grab your attention. Continued to Frenchman NE (Peak 101) and Frenchman NW (Peak 102). Descended to the wash that runs west in between the 3 Frenchman peaks and followed it until i came upon a 20-30ft drop which had an anchor attached at the top. I didn't have any webbing or rope so opted to climb out of the wash and avoid the obstacle. I could see a 2nd anchor and subsequent drop further down the canyon. Great weather, could have used the breeze a little more. Clear day and afternoon dust settled over the strip. " — DudeAlmighty • Jan 13, 2022
"3.16.2021~Frenchman Mtn twin Highpoints & full South to North Traverse hitting points 2,805, 2,970’, 3,434’ & 3,911 along the way and a run on roads (Lake Mead & Hollywood) back to my car. Solo, 11 miles, 3,000’ gain in 4:27hrs. This was slow for me. I wasn’t feeling that great. This ridge tour of our local classic was spectacular. It even had a few dicey (yet fun) knife edge sections for a nice thrill. By the time I was done with the Mtn and jogging on roads, my legs felt heavy and dead. Not sure why. Maybe a mix of vaccine side effects and recovering from the ultra event I did a little over a week ago. Any hoo, it was a great day regardless. " — paula.raimondi • Mar 16, 2021
