"This was a great day. Started a tad later than I wanted. Parked at dry fork on Khyv peak road. The first 2 miles were beautiful aspen groves and meadows. I felt like I was going to see a moose in this section. It is a steady incline the whole way up to the saddle. It looked like you can possibly bag cascade peak from here, which was good to know for later.. I went up Shingle Mill peak from the south. This was a very chill albeit steep climb to the top. Upon arriving to the top a bird sat on top of the large cairn marking the summit.. I thought this summit was very cool. Stopped and had a protein bar while scoping out the intimidating north ridge of Freedom Peak. I then continued towards and up the north ridge to the top of Freedom Peak. Although it looks intimidating, it really wasn't that bad. I got a little too far off to one side (east) and had to climb my way back up to the middle. Definitely don't do this and try to stay on the middle if you can. There was some unsuspecting loose rocks. I double and triple checked each and every hold. I sat and took in the view on top of Freedom, and signed the book. Awesome views here. On the way down I took the west ridge..." — ryangallant • Jun 25, 2025
"From Cascade Saddle via Big Springs Park in Provo Canyon. Summitted Freedom Peak, East Provo Peak, and Provo Peak before descending to Squaw Peak Road and then bushwacking into Slate Canyon until we found the trail. Really great day until the bushwacking. The erosion bars were fun to hike in, lots of fun scrambling with some pulse pounding sections on Provo Peak's East Ridge. Took over 13 hours." — chilledsausage • Sep 6, 2015
