Part of an 11-12 mile trail run along the AT. Although I had to leave the trail to climb to the summit, I found an old trail that has long been deserted, but clearly there. A gradual hike/run off-trail up to the large, flat summit (hence the name). Spectacular winter views of surrounding mountains, valley, and Blue Ridge Parkway. There was also an interesting, perfectly circular vernal pool still frozen over on the long, wide summit.
