"Sunny warm fall day. Parking for Midstate trail is big flat opening across from the summer camp entrance. Trail is marked with yellow plastic blazes, not the best for fall. The trail is easy footing and only about 1.3 miles each way. Summit is unremarkable but pleasant scenery on the way. Note this section of trail can be tricky to follow as there are some recent roads being cut and sharp turns. " — Gregrog • Oct 20, 2024
"I was back up here again today to make sure that "Old Bones Otto" still had it in him to hike something with me. It's a short, easy, sloping trail with a pleasant, wooded summit. Otto did alright, not his personal best, but it didn't seem to bother him." — VonSelmer • Jan 2, 2012
"I've gotta get out of town again to some other peaks, but that isn't easy to do before work. So here I am again on a brisk morning walk with "old bones" Otto. There's something very refreshing about hiking in 30 degree temps. Crisp & clean." — VonSelmer • Nov 6, 2011
"Seeing this peak from Mount Watatic yesterday made me want to hike it again. It worked out well as it was Otto's turn to hike with me & the old dog needs short, easy trails. I was going to get up into the Whites again on Monday, but I think the amount of snow we're supposed to get today is going to keep me closer to home. I still need to "get my bones" as far as winter hiking goes, and I think it'd be safer to learn on Mountains I'm familiar with.
