"We ascended the Raven from the Echo Bay turn off from Northshore Rd. We made this a loop hike to include The Paragon, The Phoenix, Peak 3667, Fire Junior, Fire Benchmark and Peak 2759....7 peaks. The route was pretty intuitive. After getting through a couple of the sections and looking back I could see that there may be better ways than we went. Parts of the descent route we took from Fire Benchmark and 2759 could use some modification. There was way too much loose and steep terrain that I think some of it could be by-passed through alternate routes. Be prepared for a lot of elevation gain to get to the first peak and lots of ups and downs throughout the route...which all adds up to over 4000 feet of gain. Overall, I think this loop is well worth experiencing....especially the views. " — Heartattackbruce • Mar 5, 2023
"3.12.2022~The Raven, The Paragon, The Phoenix, 3,667’, Fire Junior, Fire Benchmark, 2,759’ & every lump in between, CW loop extravaganza. 8 miles, 4,000’ gain in 6:35hrs w/Erica & Kevin. Kevin invited me along and I couldn’t resist repeating this route. We tweaked it a little adding harder ascents and descents here and there along the way. Kevin added the registers. We modified my descent from Fire BM & took a ridge Down, to some points of interest, instead of the sloppy canyon I usually use. I always enjoy being in this rugged area of the Eastern Muddy Mtns. Good challenging hard work. Great day.

"2.28.2022~Farewell to February Foray~The Raven, 3,549’, The Phoenix, 3,667’, Fire Jr., Fire Benchmark (and every lump in between) CW Loop. 9 miles, 4,000’ gain in 6:52hrs in the Eastern Muddy Mountains, NV. Using Stav’s map of his ascent of The Raven ( thank you, www.stavislost.com , check it out for his amazing mountain trips) I drew a track of this loop in the hopes to do it with Kevin last Sat. I didn’t sleep well and cancelled, so today I thought to test it out. It went well. I made it a light/less risky version in some areas since I was alone but it still had tons of fun class 3 & such. I don’t know if this particular circuit has been done but I highly recommend. It’s rough country with grand views of the Valley of Fire and the Overton arm of Lake Mead. I trashed my new trail running shoes on the sharp volcanic terrain. Goodbye February, Welcome March." — paula.raimondi • Feb 28, 2022
"3.15.2020~Fire Benchmark (w/Jimmy) in the Muddy Mtns, 5.5 rough miles, 2,700’ gain, 4:27hrs. We literally saw the 1st Beaver tail Cactus bloom of 2020 happen, on our way back to the car. All were just buds about to burst....Navigating slowed us a bit but we still did well. We started at 11:10 am. Jimmy didn’t love the terrain but was a good sport joining me on this. The winds made the temps comfortable. This rarely visited peak had special views of the Valley of Fire, Gold Butte Peaks and the Overton arm of Lake Mead. This is about the best place to go to implement “Social Distancing” but we still managed to run into another top Local Mountaineer, David Miller, on the summit. Was nice to chat with him on top and clear the air.

"I had read some trip reports on this one & was a little nervous about it. Most people take semi technical routes up the canyons, but I took my own route up the ESE ridge & found my way to the summit with no real problems or dangerous stuff. Visited a big cave & saw lots of fossils. I enjoyed the day very much! I had wanted to get up this one for quite awhile, so it was good to get there." — StudioHoodoo • Nov 18, 2018
