"There is a parking area just off the main road, before a switchback, some 5km from Rocca Massima, just after the main bend in the road, SSW of this peak. From here the walk can start but given I had access to a 4x4 and was short on time and light, I travelled north down a rocky track towards the foot of this hill where there is a area with tables. From here it was a straightforward walk up, through mixed forest, including some chestnut trees which had abundant pickings on the ground below them (nearby Rocca Massima has a festa of marroni). The highest point is near where the treeline, and the forest gives way to an area of chestnut trees and what I think is ginestra, some sort of spineless gorse, with very long spindly leaves and lupin-like pods (edit when I first saw this I thought it was broom, and this seems to tally after checking). This was a simple walk, nice to be in the forest and have soil underfoot and little undergrowth after recent adventures, it did make me slightly complacent about nearby San Nicola (see log). Would be a good place to walk in summer given the shade." — vygodski • Nov 8, 2024
