"After bagging Broad Crag I headed back down to Esk Hause and then up Esk Pike. I sat on the summit but when I came down another hiker I met said that the cairn was the summit. It looked lower to me but bagged it anyway just to be safe. A bit of research showed I was right, he was wrong. Headed off to Bowfell after. " — NorthernWayfarer • Jul 9, 2017
"From Stool End, ascending by the Band and Climbers' Traverse to scramble via Flat Crags to the summit. Then a traverse over Esk Pike via Ore Gap and Rossett Pike, then back into Langdale. With IB, on a mild day of milky sunshine." — marktrengove2 • Mar 25, 1999
"Leeds University Outdoor Activities Course at Dale Head, Duddon. Leading and teaching sixthformers with Chris McAllistair. After camping at Wasdale Head. In spite of my trying to get people up at 07:30, departure was not until 10:00. We walked by the direct path from Wasdale Head to Brown Tongue. At the top of Brown Tongue we bore right for the path to Mickledore, for lunch. Our group started on Broad Stand but I decided it was an unjustifiable risk with such companions, in such conditions, so retreated. We followed the well worn path to Scafell Pike and to Esk Hause, Esk Pike, Ore Gap. Then we followed the path – rather faint, to Lingcove and hence to Dale Head. Mist. " — peter43 • Mar 31, 1961
