"From Nelspruit, take the R40 South to Barberton for 44 km. Do not turn into Barberton, but continue along theR40 up the mountain towards Bulembu for a further 11 km. The turn off to the dam is on the LHS. Stop the cars at foothill. Climb about 1.36km uphill to the border of Eswatini and South Africa. Trip down for about 1.2km" — williamhugo • Oct 2, 2022
"Normally we ascent from the eSwatini (Swaziland changed its name) side from the little town of Belembu. However CoVid travel restrictions forced us to ascend from the South African (west) side. Cool winters morning, easy climb, stunning view." — Redshift3 • Jun 21, 2020
"We started our hike from Bulembu, a small town that lies on the border of South Africa, accessible by 19km of horrible dirt road from Piggs Peak. We hired a guide from Bulembu Lodge for a very reasonable fee to led our group of 4 up the mountain. Its a good hike on a relatively easy trail with no technical or challenging spots. It was extremely windy, but dry & sunny conditions. Visibility was hampered somewhat by the many fires burning throughout Swaziland but the views were great none-the-less. We hike for a cause, Hiking Heights for Higher Education, raising awareness for the Ignite Excellence Foundation (www.IgniteExcellenceFoundation.org). " — MichaelGingerich • Aug 12, 2012
"Second ascent. This time we did a traverse starting at the old abandoned Swazi military base about 3 kms northeast of the summit. En-route, Devil's Bridge is amazing. It's a narrow causeway with dropoffs on both sides. From the summit we descended to the north into Bulembu. This traverse needed two vehicles with high ground clearance. The start and end points were about 15kms apart by (bad) road." — andymaclaurin • Jan 11, 2012

"Emlembe is the highest mountain in Swaziland. It is located in the east uKhahlamba (or Drakensberg) mountain range, on the border with South Africa. We live less than an hour’s drive from the Swaziland border at Belembu. This is my favourite day peak. We managed to cross the border and park our vehicle in a little rural village at the foot of the mountain. Friendly folk who struggle to comprehend why we would climb Emlembe for fun
From here was a stiff three hour walk (no physical climbing) although rather steep at times, up towards the Trig beacon denoting the highest point.
Situated on the fence line between South Africa and Swaziland the views are breath-taking for 360 degrees.
My wife and I enjoyed a short rest and then a rather fast march downhill.

"We climbed Emlembe from the Swaziland side from the south. Starting in the town of Bulembu, we drove as far up as we could, and walked from there. It took us 2 hours to the top and about 1 hour down. It's a climb of about 550m vertical from where we parked. Stunning views, and great fun." — andymaclaurin • Oct 30, 2010
