Hiked with Hannah. Got off my last midnight shift and met her at the house around 0800. Did a quick gear shakedown, the drive up was long and relatively icy when we got closer to the trailhead. Mid 30’s and grey skies.

We were the only car there around 1000, no great surprise. Crossed a tiny bridge at the other side of the road & signed into the trail register which is way higher up off the ground than any others I’ve encountered.

No real snow in the woods, we bare booted along the trail with running water for awhile then switched to spikes as conditions got icier. Not a wonderfully managed trail, it’s deeply eroded and we dealt with running water on trail the whole time. The final push was a nice little climb and we were rewarded with blue skies and fluffy clouds, very little wind, along with the lake below us making blooping noises. It was very peaceful at the cliffs with little to no real world noises reaching us. We took photos, had a snack and then headed back down.

Almost as soon as we re entered the woods the skies quickly darkened and the temperatures dropped significantly.

Near the end of the hike we did encounter two folks heading in, no packs or gear with them wearing jeans and no spikes. HYOH I guess, but I do wonder if they made it up and back safely. We passed eachother with only a greeting and a couple of minutes later Hannah and I were signing out for the drive home. Very pleasant little outing.
