"Awesome view on Osceola! You get to see a view of the whole valley, but if you are going to do East Osceola, prepare to be disappointed. The thing about doing both though is that you can climb the chimney, which is basically rock climbing, but you should do it coming back to Osceola, because it is up 90 degrees." — Wafflepeakbagger • Sep 21, 2025
"Hiked up the Osceola Range today after camping at Russell Pond. Trail up Osceola from Thornton Gap is very easy; only 2000 feet of elevation gain. Summit views of the Tripyramid Range were beautiful. East Osceola didn't offer much in the way of views but it is one of the 48 so it must be done. The Chimney is pretty overrated I think. It pales in comparison to a truly challenging scramble like the Saddleback Cliffs in the ADK High Peaks. Overall, definitely an enjoyable hike an an easy trail for two 4000 footers." — elimihuta • Jul 23, 2025
"A solo hike after Mt. Osceola on a nice day. Dropped down a sketchy steep section with a chimney. A bit scarier on the way back, just don’t look down! A pile of rocks at the summit in a treed section. Another 2 in the books!" — lfrancois • Sep 10, 2024
"Beautiful day. Parked at greeley lakes trailhead. Many people between the two peaks, seemed like most were coming from other parking lot. Chickadee and Winter Wren... 7.14 miles out n back..." — ryangallant • Jun 15, 2024
"One week after a big snow storms, still tons of snow in the Whites and a lot of the main trails are broken out. Greeley Ponds trail to the Osceola trail was broken out but tons of uneven terrain. Great weather but an exhausting hike." — Alohabuffy • Mar 31, 2024
"Joined up with a friend that was working on a gray jay project with a couple of students. We headed up the Tripolii Rd side to Osceola, then onwards to East Osceola. Once we returned to Osceola, the trio gathered their bird equipment and we headed off the mountain. Sunny day today. " — newenglandwarrior • May 27, 2023
"A couple of peaks for some Grid gains. Managed to bare boot a ways up East Osceola before putting on microspikes. Tagged the summit, then headed over to Osceola. Windy up there but I was sheltered. Beautiful day otherwise. Headed back down the same way I went up back to the Kanc. Only person out today. " — newenglandwarrior • Dec 13, 2022
"An Osceola and Tecumseh kind of day. I needed all 3 for my May Grid. Tripolii Rd was open and I headed up Osecola from that side. I made quick time and tagged the summit. Overcast day. I then headed over to East Osceola and tagged that summit. On the return, I went up the chimney. I also saw the butt end of a snowshoe hare before the Osceola summit. I quickly reached my car on the descent. For Tecumseh, I went up the back side. It is longer but more mellow. I got to use my silky saw for the first time and delimbed a blowdown on the ascent. I tagged the summit and came back down. " — newenglandwarrior • May 26, 2022
"I needed the Osceolas to close out my 8th loop, but I didn't need them for anything else. I headed up the Tripolii side, crossed Osceola, then down to East Osceola to finish my loop. I then went back over Osceola, and took the faint herd path towards Middle and West Osceola. I needed West Osceola for my TW72. There was a view over there. I then came back up the herd path and headed back to the car. " — newenglandwarrior • Jun 11, 2021
"Osceolas and Middle Osceola today. Holy crap, were there people out. Roughly 60 people on the summit of Osceola. We will not be doing 4000 footers on the weekends this summer. " — newenglandwarrior • Jul 18, 2020
