"The hike up was enjoyable as always, with lots of vistas and lots of climbing to get your legs working.
The hike down Mount Olympia Road is miserable. There are two miles of steep, loose dirt and rocks—a serious fall hazard even with poles. The first of these miles is heavily overgrown, including poison oak. Every time I do this route, I think to myself that it's not worth it and that it would be better to skip Mount Olympia." — sareine • Jun 7, 2020
"Lovely, warm day doing the peak around of Mt Diablo. Started from Clayton at dawn and from there to Mitchell Rock, Twin Peaks, Eagle Peak, Juniper Campground, Mount Diablo, North Peak and Mount Olympia.
The descent from North Peak and Mount Olympia are a bit steep and unstable, so poles may be helpful. Also, the trail from North Peak to Mount Olympia is pretty overgrown." — sareine • May 23, 2020
"Summited this Bay Area Classic peak en route to the Diablo summit. A destination unto itself, Eagle Peak's summit has a dramatic and central vantage point into the heart of Mt Diablo State Park. The southernmost peak of Eagle Peak has the summit register but the middle peak with the cairn may be higher... hit them both for good measure. " — scott • Mar 30, 2018
"As part of my training for the High Sierra Trail, a group of friends and I backpacked five Diablo peaks. Started from Mitchell Canyon, tagged Twin Peaks and Eagle Peak, then camped at Juniper Campground. On Day 2 we tagged Diablo, North Peak, and Mt. Olympia before returning to Mitchell Canyon. "First peak of a three peak loop hike in Mt Diablo State Park. Toasty temps after walking across the Golden Gate bridge yesterday with a strong breeze. Encountered a rattler, a deer, a wild pig and numerous lizards." — Nimblefoot • Jun 3, 2013
