Highlights
- Eagle Mountain is also named Boulder Mountain on some maps. The summit of the mountain has been weathered into a series of large granite boulders rather than the smooth dome one normally associates with a mountaintop.

"With R. Last portion of the climb was a bit sketchy both up and down with a young one. Otherwise beautiful. The Witchitas are holding onto a last bit of color but it will be gone soon." — danielmartin • Nov 11, 2023
"I would like to begin by saying do not take this route in case anybody is reading this. Do the normal AllTrails route that starts at the edge of the first pool you come too at the entrance to the narrows. I tried to use a boulder field further west to scramble to the top, and it was very difficult. It may not have been as bad during cooler weather, but the heat was so high (100F) today that the rocks were baking. It sapped my strength like you wouldn't believe. Anybody going out to the Refuge at the moment needs to plan better than I did, or just wait for cooler weather. The views along the route to the top are decent, and the summit has a really great panoramic sightline of the Wichitas. Honestly, Mt. Scott is probably a better climb while the heat is this severe. You have an established path that makes you go earlier during shared road usage, and there are plenty of people around to bail you out if you start showing signs of heat illness. Be safe out there! Pictures to come later." — danielmartin • Jul 2, 2022
" Left from Boulder Picnic Area. Got frustrated with trying to find a path that led anywhere so we resorted to boulder hopping. It was a perfect day weather-wise, about 68-70F. There was still snow to be found from the storm of two weeks ago tucked under some of the boulders. Really enjoyed the view from the top!" — JASTA11 • Feb 7, 2009
