"Stopped at Carlton Hill M.U.A. for the second time in two weeks, to do some hiking between mountain biking and kayaking adventures. Since I did Sulphur Spring Hill last week, I decided to do the Dutton and Page combo this time. Because this was an unplanned stop, I hiked in regular sneakers for the first time in six years. They proved to be adequate enough for the dry trails.
The rest of the summer will be devoted to mountain biking. I might even do a few summits that way. We'll see. " — theascent • Jul 3, 2022

"With Page Hill being exceptionally crowded for the sunset, I decided to do a quick up-and-down of Dutton Hill for a more peaceful experience. The parking lot and trail were both completely empty. " — theascent • Aug 14, 2020

"Comfy winter hiking at its finest! Magnificent blue skies, a fresh layer of white snow, absolutely no wind until I reached the open summit of Page Hill, and complete solitude the entire way!
This time around, I hiked the entire trail between Dutton Hill and Page Hill instead of doing them as separate hikes. This was longer but far more rewarding. I actually felt like I earned Page Hill's 1,500+ foot summit because there were moderately steep inclines on Trail 6 as opposed to the flat, boring walk on Bank Road that I did last time. There were two frozen streams that I was hesitant to cross, but thankfully was able to make it across each of them without the ice even cracking.
My winter gear passed this test in flying colors, especially my new gaiters that arrived in the mail yesterday. No snow got into my boots! What a difference from last week's adventure in Allegany State Park when my boots were completely soaked afterwards! " — theascent • Feb 15, 2020
