"Made another trip to Driskill Mtn. to clear the main trail after another large tree fell, blocking the trail. It brought down a few other smaller trees with it and took most of the day to remove branches and limbs. I ended up using my ax and loppers since the chainsaw wasn't cooperating. I'll probably have to go back in September to finish the clean up and do some more work on the optional False Mtn. Trail." — StoneMan • Jun 6, 2024

"Brought my chainsaw and loppers to clear some downed trees and brush that fell on the trail from recent storms. Spent time talking with one of the family owners of the Driskill Mtn. properties and then headed up to the summit for the 38th time." — StoneMan • May 18, 2024

"Replaced the old Church sign since visitors to Driskill have used their parking area for many years, then hiked up to the summit to assess any damage along the trail due to the recent storms. Next trip I'll haul up my chainsaw and do some cleanup to remove some downed trees and debris." — StoneMan • May 14, 2024

"On my way home from Woodall Mtn. in Mississippi and had the time to wander up Driskill again. I'll probably return in a month to finish some trail maintenance and install another sign." — StoneMan • Mar 29, 2024

"This trip to Driskill Mtn. was to begin replacing missing and vandalized signs and also clearing some brush around existing trail signs. It'll take another trip to finish this little maintenance project." — StoneMan • Nov 4, 2023

"Decided a hike would be better than sitting on the couch even though the heatwave we've been having in Texas and Louisiana has kept the temps well above 100 degrees for quite awhile now. The drive from the ranch in Texas is longer than the hike up Driskill Mtn. in Louisiana but it's the closest state highpoint around. It was 104 degrees at the summit but still a nice hike in the woods on the main trail. It also gave me a chance to check on the logbook and a few missing and defaced signs that we'll be replacing in about a month. This was my 29th trip up, and I'm sure there'll be a few more before the end of the year. It's also the 503rd time I've stood on the state highpoints." — StoneMan • Aug 26, 2023

"Easy drive from East Texas to an easy hike of Driskill Mtn. in Louisiana. It was 93 degrees at the trailhead when I started and 99 degrees when I returned; still it was cooler than the ranch in East Texas. Met a local heading up while I was working my way down the False Mtn. Trailhead. He was a retired forester and had worked on the other side of the mountain and said he hadn't been to the summit in almost twenty years. We had a good conversation about the terrain, trees and wildlife in the area." — StoneMan • Jul 1, 2023

"Figured it would be a good day for a short hike up Driskill to check on the logbook. Distant thunder and dark skies probably kept other hikers away. I usually see others on the trail on Saturdays in the early afternoon but the rain came heavily once I got back to the trailhead and headed home. Perfect timing for a hike." — StoneMan • Jun 3, 2023

"Headed to Driskill today to measure several existing signs in order to fabricate several missing ones and decide where additional signs might help direct hikers especially in locating the False Mtn. Trailhead near the summit. It was a nice hike with the cooler Fall temps. This was also the 499th time I've stood on top of a state highpoint. Not sure which one I'll do for number 500 but I'm leaning toward Black Mesa in Oklahoma." — StoneMan • Nov 13, 2022

"Had a little time to drive over to Louisiana and hike up Driskill. This is the 24th time I've been up to the summit. Met a couple of folks working on their state highpoints so we had some nice conversations." — StoneMan • Oct 8, 2022
