Another hike with my brother! The mountain is inside the Gold Canyon Golf Resort off of the 60 highway. The trail starts by a helicopter pad with a sign that says Sunset Loop. Really quickly youll come across different sign posts with different trail names that I did not jot down. None of them say Sunset Loop. I knew where the summit was at so I just followed two or three different trails that led in the direction of the summit. Not even half a mile into the trail, I lost sight of the trail. It doesn't look like anyone maintains the trails or that there's a lot of people going through there. Sometimes I could faintly see the trail but othertimes there was just no sign of it. So very early onto the trail my brother and I began making our own route towards the top. Theres multiple peaks that go through a ridge line from north-south. We headed up towards the first saddle of two different peaks approaching it from the south side. Once we reached the saddle, we went around the false summits until we saw the true summit up ahead. From there we scrambled our way towards a saddle that had a different peak and the true summit. Rock was very loose and footing was hard to come by. At some points I believe it turned into a class 2 scramble, especially nearing the top. From there it was smooth sailing to the peak with wonderful views of the superstitions to the north and the golf course to the south.

We decided that with all the loose rock climbing up it wouldn't have been great to get back down through that route. I had heard that ascending the mountain from the north was much easier than the south side so we looked to find a way down on the north face. Sure enough, it was way easier and we quickly reached the bottom where we looped around back to the car.

This probably one of my worst, if not my worst, trip report i've made but I wanted to give a rough idea of what the trip looked like. This was my brothers first scrambling experience so I completely forgot to jot down trail names and capture specific photos of the routes i took as I was making sure he was okay with the climb. Overall it was surprisingly a great experience on a mountain that I thought would be below average given it was surrounded by a golf resort, homes, and lots of busy streets.
