"ACCESS ISSUES: I drove 2 hours from Ngodwana to climb this peak. Just over 2km in I was stopped by 3 Security guards from Phoenix K9. They asked me if I had obtained permission, which I hadn't. I spoke to their supervisor (Reynard) on the phone.
He told me the property belonged to Notham Booysendal Mine. He gave me the number of Marius (+27 84 804 7626). Unfortunately I had to run back to my car for signal (Vodacom). I called Marius on a Sunday, and he agreed to let me go to the top. I would strongly encourage you to call him well in advance to arrange access, he seems like a very reasonable guy. Apparently illegal poaching has caused the tension with access.
The peak itself is unfortunately as spectacular as it is challenging - not at all.
I am however glad I stood on the highest point of Mpumalanga." — harrymaarsingh • Mar 28, 2021

"This is the highest point in Mpumalanga, and was actually a bit of an anti-climax. The peak is quite barren and does not have awesome views because there's a lot of high country around, and no really steep gradients. It's about a 4.5km walk (one way) from the nearest parking, with mostly easy gradients except for the last few hundred metres which is steeper." — andymaclaurin • Feb 11, 2012
