"Another Western New York classic! Five years ago, the Devil's Nose hiking trail re-opened after previously being closed due to erosion concerns. The loop is less than a mile long, but you can extend it by walking along the shoreline or the bike path running parallel to it. Like many places in the region, it's a prime location for birdwatching. Be on the lookout for bald eagles. I saw one in flight on the way back.
Devil's Nose is most famous (well, infamous) for being the site of numerous shipwrecks on Lake Ontario. Here's some more information that I found online: http://www.oceantreasures.org/blog/dangerous-places-for-shipping/devil-s-nose-was-a-graveyard-of-ships.html" — theascent • Jan 15, 2023
