"Had left the 'mountain-forecast' tab open in my browser earlier in the week, and noticed a lovely looking sunny day with minimal wind across Snowdonia on Sunday. It has been a while since I've done a day trip so far away, but I decided to get up at 530am, and do the 3.5hr drive each way to 'seize' the day ;-)
Managed to tick off my last 2 x nuttalls on the Cadair range, and of course felt the need to tick off Cadair Idris for a 3rd time. I was going to do a route from the East, but at the last minute, I changed my mind and came in from the West. This turned out to be a great decision, a very enjoyable and varied route with some absolutely incredible views. One I'll always remember and hope to do again!" — adventure-stricken • Sep 28, 2025
"Up the Minffordd Path from the car park at Minnfford. Up Craig Lwyd, then Craig Cwm Amarch (now livid to see that Mynydd Pencoed counts as a peak, as I would have taken that in too) on to Cadair Idris. Then west to The Saddle (Cyfwry), then back up Cadair Idris (does that count as a second summit?). Then on up Mynydd Moel to the east. The plan was to call it a day there, but it was such nice weather that I continued on Mynydd Gwerngraig and then onwards east to Gau Graig before a extremely steep descent south-east, following the fence posts to just above the A487, before following the brook alongside the road back to the car. Found someone's wallet and contents scattered across the road just before the car park, including £15. Drove to Dolgellau to hand it in at the police station. 6 hours walking in all with the odd minute break to rehyrate." — vygodski • Apr 22, 2017
