Hiked with Jordan. Temperatures around San Diego were predicted at a high of 100 degrees, so we chose this peak as the highs were *only* supposed to be in the upper 70’s. We were the only people at the park when we arrived and saw no other hikers. Took a scenic route up, with lots of twists and turns on the trail. It was kind of sad to see the massive amounts of fire damage in the area. The trails were undulating, a mix between forested areas with a nice cushy underfoot feeling, as well as exposed areas with a lot of red rocks. The views were supreme without a cloud in the sky, and we weren’t bothered by any bugs. The winds were strong and somewhat of a relief, but not much. The final push to the summit on the fire road was pretty steep and taxing, but thankfully, short. I nearly got blown off a rock outcrop at the summit trying for a photo, but other than that, just a nice hike with my friend now that my vacation out here is winding down. It was a bit hot and dry for my tastes, but not terrible. We took the fire road back down to the car and made short work of it, with great views of Stonewall Peak ahead of us.
