Firstly a steady climb on a clear, well-used path which is taken after the first main hairpin on the Ninfiana 1 to the south east of the hill. At a certain point after following a stone wall and barbed wire fence, the path heads north to arrive at the bottom of the main rock face here, popular with climbers. The initial plan was to try to get on top of this face from the east, but the west felt more natural so following a marked but overgrown path that hugs the bottom of the rock face before eventually, leaving the red signs behind, it gets to the top of the crinale where there is a stone wall with a single barbed wire. From here it was an eastward thrash and cut through the thicket to reach the top. The early parts of this were a little touch and go because of the crevices and fracturing of the rock. A bit of horticulturation, which I started, would make this more accessible and desirable than it was because progress was slow. Nearing the top itself, there was slightly more evidence of human activity. Against my better judgement, decided to press on eastwards and find a route down that way. Small tracks exist but a first attempt deposited us too high on the rock face, so had to double back and go behind the secondary outcrop that is more visible from below, circling around this and gradually descending to the bottom of the rock face. Quite a few paths but all overgrown and pretty gnarly. Attention needs to be taken here. For us, the light was good and we weren't in a rush, but there is the danger of making a hasty decision to cut in and down too early, thus meeting some unstable terrain with big drops below.
