"Great weather , trail had lots of leaves, dry. Pretty much uphill all the way. Big rocks at first stop. If you can climb the huge rocks you could get a good view. But continue to the peak and get a 360 view." — sarahlaustrup • Sep 28, 2024

"Tom and I left the trailhead at 9:02 am. Trail to summit was mostly dry in spite of heavy rains mid week. Did some exploration around the chimney and took some pics. Summited at 10:02. Awesome views all around. Nice breeze and no bugs or people. Returned to car at 10:42. Short hike with big views." — garyogden • Aug 28, 2022

"Easy at first. Then up the last 1/2M! Awesome rock formations at the Chimney. Short 1/4M to the real summit from the Chimney and rock formations. Great views. Whole hike was 2 1/4hrs with plenty of stops for pix." — Retiredtop2004 • Jul 1, 2021

"Awesome hike with the family and some friends! Great views at the summit, and from a ledge about 100 feet south of the summit. Kids enjoyed exploring the caves near the chimney." — christopherfink • Jun 12, 2020

"Very nice short but steep climb. There is a mixture of granite, quartz and limestone along the way, unusual for the Adirondacks. There is an interesting “chimney” rock formation with caves and then the true summit a little further along is open with excellent views all around, including the high peaks. "Nice hike up Chimney this morning, overcast and flurries but visibility was good, clouds were high. We were going to use our snowshoes but the trail was packed down and the snow wasn't deep so we hiked using our micro-spikes. Really nice on the summit, the chimney and all the other rock formations make for interesting viewing." — hbotc • Dec 9, 2018

"If you like short and steep, and you like climbing rocks, this peak is ideal for you. It's up, up, up right from the start but not overly difficult, and there are some epic views - especially if you're brave enough to climb on top of the tall rock formations!" — RangersApprentice • Jun 24, 2017

"Quite a hot day Today, did this peak after doing Moxham. Very interesting at the top, lots of areas to climb, scramble and explore. Some cool rock formations. Nice short steep climb, took less than an hour to summit." — HikingViking • Jun 24, 2017

"Enjoyed a trip with the kids to Chimney mountain. Trail up to the Chimneys is short with some steeper areas, tougher today with the humidity in the air. Once we reached the Chimneys we checked them our for a few hours and then decided to hit the peak of Chimney another day. Lots of fun." — deb-and-rob • Sep 1, 2014

"Short hike to a really interesting summit area. The rock towers or chimneys are super cool & exploration in & around them
is a must. Caution is advised as steep drop offs abound." — billsussdorff • Nov 9, 2012
