"Chile. We enter Torres del Paine at Lago Amarillo by motorcycle which we bought in Cuzco Peru. We drive next to Lago Nordenskjöld on a bad gravel road. The Patagonian wind is so fierce. I'm not able to keep steering straight. We get blown off the road a couple of times. We eventually make it by driving really slow. We recover in a cafeteria and start walking. We turn right around the corner at Salto Grande to get blown away again! A half an hour later we manage to get to the mirador/viewpoint of this peak. The drive back was easier, less wind. The next day we go to Base de las Torres. On the way back we fall down by a whirlwind that hits us from behind. Windy days.." — Pieter • Jan 18, 2018
"It was a tough one. Despite being about 1500m tall it was quite an experience. We started at 4am and walked around Ice Lake making a few stream crossings along the way. After that followed a bushwhack which led to open slopes with snow. We had a bit of a longer break and the guide figured it would be about an hour to summit. It got windier as we got higher. We got to a shoulder below the summit and had to cross a final snow field. The wind was really strong here and at times we would get blasted with ice pellets at over 100km/h. Margaret decided to hold off on summiting. The guide and I continued to the summit. The wind was intense. It really pushed us around and we had to take shelter a few times. The way back was windy also and the wind only gradually got less as we descended." — BertB • Dec 13, 2017
