Highlights
- Trail is only 1.6 mi. roundtrip, with good views to be obtained by taking a short spur trail on the way up and by passing over the wooded summit to viewpoints a little beyond.
- Started with crossing a snowy field to where you sign in. Wore snowshoes for a short while then took them off and just wore the hiking boots the rest of the way . Nice short hike 1.8 mile . Not a lot of views .

"Part of the Mariah hiking challenge, nice little open field to cross and into the trees, only a couple miles for this one but a few open spots on its ridge views, lake champlain views are obscured by overgrown trees though, nice little hike" — ramjet1963 • Sep 5, 2024
"Katie, Dean and I made the short drive over to Cheney while in the area after hiking Belfry. A short hike took us to the summit that led to many trails that each looked off in a different direction. Lake Champlain Valley and the ADK High Peaks. Beautiful day hiking with family." — garyogden • Feb 25, 2024
"Haven't been out hiking since we hiked out to Boreas Ponds early February. Deb and I had awesome weather today, sunny a little breezy and cold. Skies were clear and these two little peaks had great views in all directions. We really enjoyed the day out!" — hbotc • Mar 5, 2017
"This was a short 1 hour hike for us, but we were passing by, so we jumped out of the car to do it. The actual summit elevation is around 1356', not the 1160' and Peakery is currently showing." — Telemarkmike • Jan 17, 2015
"Hiked Cheney with My wife, son, brother, & niece. What a treat to have everybody along. Really warm & humid day with my
out of shape brother struggling to get to the top. Nice views west towards the high peaks & east towards the bridge." — billsussdorff • Aug 9, 2013
