The Smoots. From the well-known guidebook by Jeff Smoot "Climbing Washington's Mountains: Selected Summit Hikes, Scrambles, and Climbs in Washington's Cascades and the Olympic Mountains (first edition 2002)" As he puts it, the guidebook is a "selective rather than equitable coverage of climbing routes to the summits of many of the highest and most prominent peaks in Washington's Cascade Range and Olympic Mountains." The Smoots have developed a growing following over the years, especially with a 2nd edition published in 2021. Each of the 100 peaks is accompanied by simple yet useful hand-drawn routes that capture the essence of each climb. Includes a wide spectrum of difficulty, including peaks requiring technical skills. An outstanding subjective compilation of "Washington's outstanding summits."
