"Went to the lakes in my own. Managed to bag the last parking spot in the parking area at Martindale church and headed up.
Lower slopes frosty but a delight in the sunshine higher up with low cloud over the lake and sat in the valley.
A lovely up and down and much needed.
Descended to chaos as people were parked all over and stuck in the mud. " — charliegill • Mar 7, 2026
"From St Raven’s, descending about 50m to saddle then a long, slow incline that seems somewhat interminable alongside a dilapidated wall. It is boggy in places but mostly bridged with well placed stones. One does need to concentrate on one’s feet a little. After a couple of mile one eventually spies Stone Cove Pike, and immediately in front of you Caudale Moor. I follow the path up to the former. It is quite a broad summit with several small rocky rises, but no obvious marker for the high point. Quite a few people about, including one arguing couple. From here retraced steps a little to then detour up to the cairn on Caudale Moor." — vygodski • Sep 26, 2025
"From Glenriddig, walking adjacent to road until George Starkey hut, where I took the track to Side Farm. Continued on track and then path that rises steadily in a SE direction. There are two, one slightly higher than the other. Both are fairly narrow but clear. I used the upper path but somehow ended up on the lower one, arriving thus below Boredale Hause rather than above it, but it didn't matter much. From the "chapel" the path is wider and good to get the next 150 metres or so before getting to the upper reaches of this hill. The top is a final flatter section reaching elevated point with a stone trig. Returned much the same route, other than this time turning off before Boredale Hause. A pleasant walk of some 500 ascent but not too taxing at any point. Was nice not needing to look at one's feet so much with a good path underfoot. A sunny day with far reaching views, including of at least 6 Marilyns.; the north side of Striding Edge although it was just shadow; views of Ullswater and Brothers Water." — vygodski • Sep 25, 2025
