"I lost count of the number of accidents I either witnessed or drove through on my way to Ohio in this mornings snow storm. Finally reached Campbell Hill, OH in the afternoon. Blisteringly cold (for OH). I was concerned the trade school/community college that Campbell Hill resides on would be gated and locked but was pleased to see it open. Jogged up to the top of the hill and signed the trail register. Back to the car and off to Indiana.
The peak is the former home of the Bellefontaine Air Force Station, where the 664th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron maintained a Cold War early warning radar. Currently, the summit is occupied by the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center and is open to visitors Monday through Friday.
Located about 50 miles northwest of Columbus, Campbell Hill is classified as a glacial moraine and has been referred to as "the most manicured of the state highpoints." Campbell Hill ranks 43rd in height on the list of highest natural points in each U.S. state.

"Two hour drive from Ohio’s high point of Campbell Hill.
Hoosier Hill is the highest natural point in the U.S. state of Indiana with a claimed elevation of 1,257 feet above sea level. Hoosier Hill is in the rural area of Franklin Township, Wayne County to the northwest of Bethel.
Hoosier Hill sits on private property owned by Kim E. Goble. The high point sits in a forested area surrounded by farmland. In 2005, an Eagle Scout candidate named Kyle Cummings (Troop 820 from Lakeside Park, Kentucky), in cooperation with the property owner, built a trail, sign and picnic area at the high point.

"Sometimes when you start a climb at 3am, breaking the trail through 6-8” of new snow is too much. Should have waited two hours and followed the ants up the hill that used my boot track. Stopped at Devils Kitchen since the upper mountain was still in early season conditions and not inviting. Try again next month. " — oregon-mt-goat • Feb 10, 2024
"February 3, 2024. Turned back at the 6 foot ice step in left PG. James cleared the step out and tried to climb it, but could not get a firm hold with his right tool to pull up safely. We thought about trying the right gate or doing Old Chute instead, but down climbing was very taxing. Excellent skiing conditions above Palmer. My first time skiing down from Devils Kitchen. With James. " — runningvegan • Feb 3, 2024
"Embarked from the Loj around 730 am. Heard from the ranger there was high water at Avalanche Lake and the bigs, so our original plan to hike Cliff and Redfield was cancelled. So we adjusted and hiked Marcy instead. Icy for Loj to Marcy Damn, then snowshoes needed the rest of the way. Clear and sunny skies at the summit, but an undercast of clouds made for a picturesque view with peaks breaking through. 15 miles in 8.5 hours, 3600 ft elevation gain. Warm temps for winter, light wind." — gregoryskiba • Jan 27, 2024
