"Nice day and there is no longer snow on the trail. It's a relatively short trail and has some steep sections. Steep in the beginning, evens out a bit, gets steep again, evens out, then the final push to the actual peak is a light bit of scrambling. A good, short climb for nice views of Reno and Mt. Rose. Will be doing this again. " — alexehagen • May 1, 2022
"Easy, straight forward trail. If you park at the trailhead, it's about 5 miles and some change. If you park further down near the end of the road, it's roughly 4 miles.
Currently, wild flowers are in bloom on the upper parts of the trail. Good beginner peak bag. :) " — alexehagen • Apr 3, 2022
"Spotted this peak on my trip to Reno last year. Figured I'd give it a go today, so I ran from the hotel south to the peak. It was farther away than it looked, much bigger than it looked, and far steeper than it looked. I knew there was a trail up the ridge from the south, but I wanted to scramble straight up on the ascent and then take the trail down. Wow it was tough! Thankfully no rattlesnakes :)" — rsnipes • Apr 21, 2018
"On our way to Tahoe from Reno we stopped off to do a short hike to stretch the legs. Already hot even though it's only 9am. Chatted with a local hiker who was surprised to see us as most folks are on ATVs, dirt bikes or mountain bikes. Visited both summits, which are covered with radio towers and buildings, and took in the view out to the peaks north of Lake Tahoe. Still plenty of snowfields on the summits.
