"Lots of target shooters plinking the hillside at the west end of 10400 St. So the dog and I drove a bit north and went up the east side from around the end of 8000 S St. really pretty views. Wasn’t prepared for 6” of snow on the north facing slopes or very slippery clay mud on the south facing ridge road. "Came along the ridge from shingle mill and looped back down the road to the Rock Spring Campground. The ridge between East Provo and Provo was steep, loose and unpleasant. Only redeeming quality was some really cool coral fossil in among the sliding slate. " — bobbyut • Jul 6, 2024

"Burst out of bed excited that it was finally the day to tackle this classic peak. We started out from the parking lot a bit after 7am loaded down with crampons, ice axe, mountaineering boots, and other gear that I never took out of my pack. Was hard to get a good read on conditions beforehand so brought everything. Turns out the snow crossings were extremely easy to navigate and easy to kick steps in the soft snow. After reaching the saddle, the wind kicked in and cooled us off in 30 seconds. Enjoyed the scenic ridge climb to the (eyesore) shack on the summit. We explored a bit farther along the ridge to get a better view of the glacier — amazing there’s still one here. The descent was quick — did some gratuitous glissading — and after a long trudge filtered some waterfall water, chugged, and finished off this official peakery classic. " — scott • Jun 30, 2024

"Conditions were prime for this hike. The parking lot had plenty of room and much of the hike was shaded. The fall leaves were a good mix of vibrant colors and recently fallen. It was a fantastic view from the top, particularly to the East. This is a great early or late-season hike because of the lower peak elevation.
