"2:40:18 to the top. 800m of ascent in total. walking.
very windy, cold, ice towards the top, Just about passible, but I should have taken crampons. some people turned back.
As I descended I saw a young man on his way up, walking with his hands in his pockets, in an inappropriate light weight jacket, no backpack, on hat, and waring carpet slippers.

"This was an incredible day. I had set out to climb Tryfan only, and didn't start until around 13:30. I expected to get another inversion on the summit, however, that didn't materialise. Once down the south ridge of Tryfan, and at the start of Bristly Ridge, I decided to go for it up onto the Glyders with 99% certainty I would get my day 2 inversion!
Unfortunately, my GPS started to play up the minute I entered the thick cloud after dark for the descent. I had intended to descend via Y Gribin, but with the GPS playing up and never doing that route before I decided to take the same way back down. Descending down Glyder Fach 'blind', I did relatively well but had gone off to the right too much towards Snowdon. Luckily the GPS sorted itself out after multiple reboots, and I hit the trail down towards the south ridge of Tryfan. The GPS then played up again, and I missed my right turn towards the car park near the north face of Tryfan. I was half way to Ogwen Cottage area when I realised what had happened, and had to slog my tired body back up the A5 :-)
In hindsight, I should have gone back to Glyder Fawr and descended via Devils Kitchen, which I'm fully familiar with, but I..." — adventure-stricken • Oct 16, 2025
