"A trip that started out with my daughter and her 2 boys aged 6 and 4 years. Got 2/3rds of the climb done but with spits of rain and kids at their limits for today, we returned to the car.
After they headed off home I headed up the hill again for a geocache check at the top. Cache in great shape and the view still fantastic." — andyc • Oct 26, 2025
"Geocaching trip combined with 2 hill climbs. Kaka Hill and Wells Hill. All geocaches found that were looked for and a new one placed here on Kaka Hill.
Came up via Kaka Road and the Kaka Trig Road. Weather perfect with a slight breeze.
This completes the Nelson 10 Peak Challenge." — andyc • Nov 2, 2024
"Number 9 of the Nelson 10 Peak Challenge and a chance to place a geocache on Sunrise Ridge. Nice sunny day with just a little cloud. Approach was from the Maitai Dam, Bob Taylor road then firebreak to the top. Great views of Nelson and Tasman Bay from here." — andyc • Nov 1, 2024
"Main focus was geocaching. Drove to the head of Marsden Valley. Walked up vehicle track to the weir and from there went up the 'Scout track' to the top of the Barnicoat Range. From here along a 4wd track towards Jenkins Hill and the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary fence. Once at the fence I followed the track down to the summit. Still a good view but not as good from years past - gorse and pines now obscure some of the view. Found all caches bar one. Returned the same way but down Involution MTB track to the car." — andyc • Dec 24, 2022
"Main purpose was geocaching from Richmond Hill to Marsden Valley. A cloudy showery day to start with improving as the day progressed. Had been up here many time but recording this visit only. Not a high hill but the gravy soon started to flow in the humid conditions. Arrived at the top in under an hour but not much of a view unfortunately." — andyc • Nov 19, 2022
