"Nice, long walk in the woods right out my back door. These overlook points are some of my favorite ways to spend fall days in Missoula (or any day, for that matter). System of forest roads, trails, user trails, and off trail routes allows one to make approaches in a variety of ways. Larches were in full glory this day!" — MarmotHead • Nov 1, 2025

"Second trip of the day, as I wanted to go up Sentinel and Jumbo in one day, just for fun. This started out with ominous looking clouds, but the weather held and actually turned quite warm for a fall Montana day. Mt. Jumbo is another Missoula icon that you can approach in a variety of ways and this is one of my favorites -- a traverse north to south, giving you views of the five valleys that are in and around Missoula, along with numerous ranges and subranges." — MarmotHead • Nov 1, 2025
"Quick walk after work to a local overlook point in the Pattee Canyon area. One of my favorite routes for a quick getaway, with larch and shrubs starting to pop with fall colors. " — MarmotHead • Oct 24, 2025
"Nice afternoon walk along a city conservation land area I have visited many times since I was young. A wonderful autumn day with views into the Bitterroots, Rattlesnakes, Sapphires and beyond." — MarmotHead • Oct 22, 2025
