"I hiked with Dean and daughter Katie this morning. We left the trailhead on Rte 11 at 8:23. Low 60s, blue skies and a great low humidity breeze. Trail was mostly dry and gradual to the summit. View from the vista over to Stratton Mtn was hazy. View from the observation tower was 360°s of great! Spent about a half hour there and then made a quick decent to the car. Returned at 12:24. "I hiked solo today. Temps in the low 50s and blue skies...perfect morning. The trail was dry and an unrelenting climb to the summit. Views up top were great. No haze, no clouds. I summited about 10 minutes after the visitor center opened. I've been looking at this mountain for 31 years from the deck of my home in the ADKs. Finally gave it a visit! "Broke trail through about a foot of snow up Owl's Head today. Nice hike. Drove up to the upper trailhead and after a half mile road walk, I hiked up past the quarry (which was interesting) and along the ridge to Owl's Head. The trail up hooked around the back to the wooded summit. I did not do the loop and couldn't find Gilbert Lookout for some reason, but Owl's Head was a cool little knob that is worth hiking to, even though there are no views from the top." — elimihuta • Jan 20, 2025

"Broke trail up Baker Peak today. Nice, steady, easy ascent the whole way. 4 inches at the trailhead, and about a foot at the top. Views were lackluster on this cloudy day, with the best being an up close view of Dorset Peak and into the Valley of Vermont. I got 6.6 miles and 2100 feet of elevation. Brook crossings were challenging, and the trail was tough to find due to infrequent blazing. Would've had to turn back without Alltrails." — elimihuta • Jan 4, 2025

"There is parking on the right hand side of the road right before the water tower. We missed it and ended up going up the rough part of the road and parking at the kiosk. I would recomend parking at the water tower it's not that much farther but the road up to the kiosk is very rough. The hike is very steep with no level places. The bonus of a beautiful waterfall at the start. Takes about an hour to reach the AT the lookout is to the left." — mt-biking-grandma • Jul 9, 2023
