"Wasn't planning this hike until just before leaving the house, was going to head elsewhere but was prevented by the Bouquet fire. Glad I went! First mile or two are pretty steep, but ascent becomes very manageable past summit of Redoubt. Not the kind of trail that just flies by on the descent. Descent felt very very long, maybe I was just tired haha" — etmiller • Oct 4, 2026
"A fun section of the PCT, the Angeles crest road is closed at Vincent's Gulch. Saw a thru hiker when I pulled into the lot at 6a, we waved at each other and he disappeared onto the trail. I was not able to get a view of Los Angeles as it was covered in low clouds. " — MikeERodriguez • Sep 24, 2026
"From trailhead to Lawlor-Strawberry saddle is very level, very simple, about 2 miles. Trail up to Lawlor peak starts very steep, plenty of grade 2. Lawlor peak does not have a sign but does have a register and a ring of stones. Back down to saddle and up to Strawberry is simple, a handful of grade 2/3 moments, but sparingly. Out and back, 8.5 miles total, moderate." — etmiller • Sep 20, 2026
"Started around 630am from the trailhead near red box. Headed first to Strawberry Peak, then backtracked to the fork at Lawlor Saddle. I took the path to the north and passed through Strawberry Meadow on the way to Josephine Peak. Headed straight back to the trailhead after. I was in my car at 3pm.
About 21 miles according to google maps. First time I've done a hike over 20!
Strawberry meadow was definitely the highlight for me. The back views of Strawberry are stunning. Also looking forward to return for the class2 Strawberry route and trailrunning to Josephine!" — oskar156 • Sep 19, 2026
"9/12/26 Went up Mt Baldy and West Baldy via Ski hut route then headed toward Mount Harwood!
- We missed the steep Baldy Bowl trail to go down so ended up taking the ski lift down to the street! It was a fun day with Pam and her son (Greg)." — diane • Sep 12, 2026
