"Via the steep class 4 gully, there is a small 10' handline before the summit block which is not necessary but still appreciated. A beautiful adventure to celebrate a full moon on Friday the 13th!" — MikeERodriguez • Dec 13, 2024
"Guided a beginner hiker up this mountain, the trail is well cairned and we were able to navigate this 4th class route. Ran into a herd of big horn sheep midway, and continued up to the summit block with a occasional exposed low 5th class move here and there. All around a beautiful trek, thank you to the route setters." — MikeERodriguez • Dec 9, 2024
"My car can't make it to the black velvet trailhead so I decided to do try a few peaks from the west side starting at mountain springs. I had a much more ambitous day planned with black velvet peak and the monument but got a late start. The route from the ridge to hidden peak from the limestone ridge was fun and well-cairned. I hadn't looked anything up and assumed it would be easy to get from there to the monument but underestimated how steep the southwest face is. I saw a fixed rope but it was blown up to the side and out of reach (it looked pretty tough anyway, not sure if anyone really goes up that way or if it's just for the descent). Apparently I could have skirted around west to the north side for an easier way up but I was over it at that point and just headed home. The limestone arch was pretty!" — kbrack • Dec 8, 2024
"Beautiful day out in lake mead for one of my favorite hikes through anniversary narrows to the peak with Kelly and Daisy. Daisy pretty much said no way on the last little scramble to the peak in her little dog voice, so Kelly and I took turns bagging it and took her back down to have our snacks at the saddle before heading back down the ridge. It was a perfect day. " — maggielynn • Dec 4, 2024
"Always a fun hike to East Peak. We deviated from the "standard" cairned route about 2/3 up the scramble near a massive house-sized boulder southeast of the summit. We followed more of the SE ridge with some challenging class 3 maybe 4 and a slot climb narrow enough I had to remove my pack (others scrambled above the slot). A fun alternative that I will definitely use again. I got only one photo near the exit that returns you back to the standard route. We descended on the standard route so you can see the difference in the track." — DudeAlmighty • Nov 30, 2024
