"7.10.25~Fletcher Peak with Jr for his 1st time. 6.8 miles, 2,200’ gain in 3:20hrs. Our 1:50pm start was very warm with virtually no breeze. James making the rounds and gearing up for his 1st Charleston summit. We are hoping for next week before his 17th bday when clouds come back and temps drop a bit. Today’s air quality was bad with smoke. Jr had one slice of pizza and 33 oz of water. His breakfast fuel was pancakes and a McDouble. I had 33oz of water, 1/3 bottle of gatorlyte, an applesauce packet and a sandwich. My breakfast fuel was a banana and 23 grams of protein yogurt drink.

"7.5.25~Divide Peak & Some Bonanza trail. 10k to 10k, 6.6 mile, 2,000’ gain touring/workout with Jr & Jimmy. Hubs 1st time in elevation since last year so he was struggling so we cut it short and he waited below when Jr & I did Divide.
2pm start. We went up the South Sister trail from the Lee Meadow, left at the saddle, right at Bonanza trail to Divide peak…Then short southward bound Bonanza trail tour to a rugged off trail shortcut down to lower Bristlecone, then shortcut back to sister trail and picnic area. Nice day. We saw the wild horses along the way. I think they are shipping them out of the area soon from what I saw on the news. Sad. Because of stupid people who fuck with them.
I’m training Jr to do his 1st Charleston Peak." — paula.raimondi • Jul 5, 2025

"Griffith solo hike. Heavy downpour at the start, light rain on/off on the climb, sun came out for the summit! Beautiful day I was the first one up and didn't see anther hiker until i was half way down." — DudeAlmighty • Jul 2, 2025

"7.1.25~Griffith Peak w/ 16 YO James Jr (a few weeks from turning 17) for his 1st time! 10 miles, 3,500’ gain, 5hrs. My 26th time up. I haven’t been on top in 3 years?! Since I knew there was going to be clouds, we slept in and casually arrived for a 1:20pm start.. Weather was pretty exciting as we were nearing the summit and again on the way down, but we survived only experiencing some low grade terror and had enough gear to stay warm and dry. I Ran into a lot of familiar faces on the way up. Good times with young son. He loved it and rated it a 9/10. He was so impressive and strong and I was very proud of him. It was Not his highest peak but his hardest trek. He consumed 2.5x 16 oz bottles of water and 2 cliff bars. I consumed 3x16oz bottles of water, a half of an Albertsons sub, one applesauce packet and a 50 cal gatorlite bottle. I wasn’t totally up for this big of a hike today because I had a stomachache but I felt better on the second half of the hike. " — paula.raimondi • Jul 1, 2025

"This was an exploratory route up to Macks Peak from McFarland Canyon. I had done a slightly different route before and wanted to see if this would be better. Definitely an advanced route...involving steep slabs with possible gravel on top, vertical scree in small sections and very sharp rock. Okay, that sounds pretty bad, but for Charleston standards it was pretty typical of direct routes. " — Heartattackbruce • Jun 26, 2025
