"Used spikes today up the rope sketch and down the easy way around Echo Lake with Maryellen, Chris, and Nancy. We can do hard things! A crisp winter day. Some flurries at the start. Pretty views of lake Placid. " — lfrancois • Jan 14, 2024
"Jay, Dan, and Adam. Up from Big Crow Trailhead/O'Toole. Started w snowshoes, but didn't need them, so switched to spikes. Extraordinarily warm day for mid December. No wind. Wore just a thermal shirt on the summit. Lots of sun. Checked out Gulf Brook lean-to on descent," — ndru-virus • Dec 16, 2023
"We took the south trail from 9N for 7 miles, 2000 feet of enervation gain. A fairly gentle trail for the first 3 miles with steady ascent, the last quarter mile becomes a steep rock scramble but it was very manageable on such a dry sunny day. There’s an awesome overlook almost all the way up with incredible views, but the summit’s 360 degree views of the high peaks is incomparable! By far the most beautiful mountain we’ve hiked so far!" — EmilyDoucet729 • Sep 30, 2023
"The rain ended in time for our family, plus one, to enjoy this hike with amazing views. This is one of the easiest hikes we have done with stairs in the entire way up. We took the east trail which starts at the Olympic sites which is very interesting. The climb was humid due to the rain the few hours before but the the cool breeze at the top and the view was worth it. There are three different spots at the summit with overlooks all close to each other with views of the high peaks and others as well as being able to see the ski jumps in the distance. The hike back down was easy on everything but the knees with so many stairs. Would recommend to most people and ages. " — jan2ny • Aug 29, 2023
"Gorgeous hike with Daisy! We took the herd path before the false summit and loved it, was some pretty exposed scrambles! Talked to alot of people on the hike, a nice couple from Boston, and a 2 W46rs from NJ. Shared alot of hiking stories. Great weather, no bugs gorgeous views on the cliffs.
