Includes all peaks with at least 1,000 ft prominence in Lake Mead National Recreation Area in southeastern Nevada and northwestern Arizona. Lake Mead peaks are a popular destination during winter, when there is snow and/or ice in Red Rock & Mount Charleston. A great challenge to to work on during those months.

"Road to base of mountain was in good condition and can be reached by 2wd truck with no problem. Terrain was primarily loose lava rock/ boulders and it was faster going up than coming down. Being easily distracted with other points of interest in the area, my route included nearby mining sites that were tucked behind the mountain to the west which added a bit more length to the otherwise short hike." — Antichris277 • Mar 18, 2023
"Pretty easy route to the top, took a slightly different route on the way back to check out some mining sites. I opted for shorts instead of pants and was lucky to return unscathed as there are lots of cactus covering the mountain and surrounding hills. Spent a bit of time at the peak looking for the benchmark but did not locate it. " — Antichris277 • Mar 12, 2023
"Quite pleasant . Two bighorns led me up the whole way on the river mtn benchmark. The register on river mtn peak is not where peakery has it or where the coordinates in r&s have it . " — joshortman • Mar 6, 2023
"Nice backpacking shakedown with my buddy Austin before we head out for the Arizona trail next week. Drove down to gold butte townsite and backpacked down. Wanted to get Bonelli on the way down to the lake, but it was coated in a layer of snow that looked too deep for my liking . Maybe on the way back I thought. Got rattlesnake which was pretty easy and not too far off the road even though I didn’t approach it from the road. Camped down at the Lake right next to Scanlon Hill. Refilled the 5L We each took with us at the lake. Hung out with some burro who gave me some tips on Gold Cross. Got gold cross the next morning which took me a bit longer than I thought (~2.5 hours RT from scanlon hill) which put me behind for also being able to tag Powell while I was down there. Gold cross was beautiful and seeing the colorado river flow into lake mead was awesome. Packed up and left after that, and quick got Gregg peak from scanlon road . This took less than 30 min round trip and is an easy bonus if you are coming down the dugway. Only three entries since 01 on Gregg ! Camped right at LMNRA boundary that day. On our final day coming out , we got crushed by a huge snow squall right after comin..." — joshortman • Feb 27, 2023
"3.9.22~Red Mtn to The River Mtn Highpoint 6 peak/lump traverse/Jog. 6.7 miles, 2,100’ gain in 2:45hrs. I’m starting to come back to life from last weekend’s 48 mile virtual run event. Felt good to ridge surf & trail run. Weather was perfect. Breezes were divine. I haven’t done this traverse in 9 years. I love the sheep trail highways that lead the way." — paula.raimondi • Mar 9, 2022
