"I climbed from the Lago Fedai Parking area. easy walking to the Glacier which is basically a snow slope now but crampons are necessary. Then I used the via feratta to the forcella. It was wet and slippery so needed care on the exposed part. From the forcella I did an exposed and unprotected traverse to gain the ridge. I followed the ridge up keeping to the right going up mainly scree slopes with the occasional scrambling. Cloud was closing in so views were limited but i got a good peek of the Punta Penia NW ridge. The decent was tedious and loose in places and care was needed to get back onto the forcella. Solo 7hrs" — tam • Sep 24, 2019
"I started from Fiucade which was slightly longer than the via normale. It was a really nice walk in. It took me a bit to find the start of the climbing but it was straightforward when I found a few cairns. easy scrambling and walking to the summit. Exposed and loose in places. Superb views from the summit. 7 hrs return" — tam • Sep 20, 2019
"Easy walk up to the start of the via feratta then a straightforward climb. I passed a few groups on the climb. Traversed the summit then descended to the saddle then traversed across back to the main trail. Solo 4.5 hrs" — tam • Sep 7, 2016
"After a massive snowstorm struck, there was 2 meters of snbow everywhere which made the track impassible. One day i must go back, i failed to summit and only walked 500m before i had to turn back. " — adrianpiza • Jun 9, 2016
"Cairngorm Club meet based at Corvara. With Michelle Ward, Adrian Scott and guide Andrea. We took the first lifts on the Marmolada Seggiovia lift. We were to climb via ferrata Marmolada West Ridge to Punta Penia summit. We left the top station at 09:00 and “followed” path 606 to Forcella Marmolada. However, the ground was entirely snow covered. The route descends somewhat to start with. Eventually a small glacier is reached although it was not possible to tell when the glacier started. The route goes up the middle of the glacier and then goes on the right where the via ferrata starts a little below the Forcella. The route is often steep and very exposed with stempels, a few small ladders and pegs. In particular there is a very exposed section with pegs. At some points the cable was buried in snow. At the end of the via ferrata the climb up to the summit of Punta Penia was entirely on snow. We reached the summit at 13:30. There is a small refugio. We went to the cross at the summit and returned to the refugio for some refreshments. We left the refugio at 14:20 and descended the “Via Normale” Initially this was on snow then there is the section of rock that has to be down-climbed. Si..." — peter43 • Jul 15, 2014
